PROVO, UT, March 24, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, has teamed up with the National Military Family Association, a nonprofit that works to strengthen and protect military families, to award one full tuition scholarship each quarter to a military spouse. The first scholarship recipient of 2016 is Angela Tyrell.
"After all the difficulties our family has gone through after my husband's return from deployment, winning this scholarship is a gift that will change our lives," said Angela Tyrell. "We're excited about the future. Thank you Career Step and the National Military Family Association."
Ms. Tyrell's husband served in the Army and, as a result of his dedicated service in Afghanistan, is now disabled and unable to work. Ms. Tyrell's goal is to gain the education she needs to begin a career that will alleviate the stress on her family's finances and help them reach their dream of owning a home. She will be enrolling in Career Step's Medical Transcription and Editing program, which offers flexible, job-specific training designed to propel her into an in-demand, work-at-home industry.
While Ms. Tyrell has already earned an associate degree in business, she wanted to gain career-specific education with a defined career path. Coupled with her persistence developed from mastering Songham Taekwondo, Ms. Tyrell believes that pursuing higher education will set an example for her daughters of the importance of education and dedication to achieve goals.
"It is truly an honor to join with the National Military Family Association and provide educational opportunities to the families who serve our country," said Steve Tober, President and CEO of Career Step. "Career Step training programs are a great fit for military families. Our online format offers unparalleled flexibility and prepare our students for growing careers with opportunities nationwide. We offer Angela our heartfelt congratulations, and wish her and her family the best as she begins her medical coding and billing program."
Career Step's dedication to military families spans decades. Over the years, more than 15,000 military spouses and service members have trained with Career Step, and the school has been recognized as a Military Friendly School for five years in a row. Career Step is also an original member of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) program run through the Department of Defense and a MyCAA-approved school.
Applications are currently being accepted for the second Career Step and National Military Family Association scholarship. This scholarship is open to spouses of service members who are either on active duty or are veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or National Guard.
