Dr. Reiling was recruited in June 2014 by Total & American Oil Shale to develop, test, build and scale-up downhole heaters for in-situ production of shale oil in Colorado's Piceance Basin. AMSO was selected by the federal BLM to research, develop and demonstrate shale oil extraction processes on federal lands. Vince currently leads a team of engineers and scientists covering a range of disciplines to design and execute laboratory, pilot, and full-scale experiments to characterize important phenomena related to oil shale, including reaction kinetics, pyrolysis & coking, phase equilibria, heat transfer, and rock mechanics.

Mr. Reiling holds a Ph.D., Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He is also a licensed professional engineer. In October 2015, he presented at the 35th Oil Shale Symposium, Salt Lake City Utah. He was awarded BP's highest technical honor - Gold Helios, 1997.
