Focusing her days on training and specializing in administrative and operational project management as an ASC II and Facilities Emergency Response Team (FERT) Coordinator for Prince William County Government Department of Fire and Rescue, Sherrise M. Boyd began on this new professional venture in 2013 and has since fell in love with her career.

"I love what I do," Boyd admits, "and I choose to do a lot more with my background to help others and teach many. My EDM career road map really has just begun its journey."

In her role as ASC II, Boyd supervises the administrative team, supports hundreds of emergency services personnel, both internal and external, and works with her team to ensure quality work to both citizens and stakeholders without any operational or logistical mishaps or administrative errors. Providing daily operational project management to include accounting, records management, supply ordering and inventory maintenance, scheduling and coordination of logistical resources, repair requests, information technology assistance and seat management, the creating, reviewing, and distribution of documents, and all other related tasks, Boyd is also sure to provide exceptional customer service.

As a FERT member, Boyd works with risk management for facility scheduled emergency drills, coordinating, facilitating, and recording each drill. Working under the supervision of the Academy Directors, she utilizes her education and previous training for preparation and identification of risks and mistakes. She also prepares and submits detailed documented post drill reports based on anonymous surveys from participants, personal observation, analysis, and trial and error.

Boyd began her career as a State Medical Advocate with WORC in 1990. She then became an Educational Trainer with Equifax in 1998 before becoming an Entrepreneur of nightclub promotions and management. By 2003, she had become a Private Events Manager for Emeril's Atlanta, and from 2006-08 she served a term position as the Assistant to Assistant Circuit Executive for the US Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2009, Boyd worked in residential property management for two different companies, which ended in 2012.

After Hurricane Katrina struck, Boyd began volunteering with her local CERT and trained under her county fire chief, which led her to take additional training to become a Rescue Specialist with Georgia Emergency Management Agency. Discontinuing her graduate program, she changed schools and majors to obtain duel master's degrees in Emergency and Disaster Management and Non-Profit Management.

Currently a member and scholarship recipient of American Association of University Women, Boyd is also a member of Business and Professional Women's Foundation, Epsilon Pi Phi Emergency Management Honor Society, International Association of Emergency Managers, Project Management Institute, International Women's Leadership Association, Toastmasters International District 29, where she also served as vice-president of membership from 2015-15, West Virginia Iota Chapter of Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society, and American InterContinental University Alumni, and is a Subcommittee Member of Virginia Emergency Management Agency Technology.
