SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management (AAPPM) today announced that it has partnered with Practice Management Institute (PMI), the nation's leading and largest provider of non-clinical practice management education, to conceive the first ever certification program for podiatric medical office professionals, the Certified Medical Office Manager - Podiatry (CMOM-POD).
AAPPM President Ben Weaver, DPM sparked the idea after his wife, Brooke, achieved her CMOM certification.
"She easily convinced me what a tremendous amount of knowledge she acquired that she could bring to our practice," said Dr. Weaver. "Working with PMI to create a podiatric specific version of CMOM and be able to share this incredible program with our profession is very exciting."
Sam Fowler, the Executive Manager of Heartland Foot and Ankle in Bloomington, IL, has been a key contributor to collaboration and will be a leading educator in the instruction process.
"I take great pride coordinating the Executive Managers Group (EMG) within the AAPPM because I believe that office managers are the backbone within a successful podiatry practice," noted Fowler. "The specific skill set that podiatric office managers must possess to excel within the position and create a profitable practice was missing. That is why I'm enthusiastic and eager to announce the certification for podiatric practice managers!"
Michael Moore, PMI's Vice President of Business Development said that partnering with a specialty organization in this way has been a goal for years.
"This hybrid of the CMOM curriculum is a first for us, and it was clear from the beginning that we'd finally found a great partner to test this concept," said Moore. "The passion and commitment to excellence in education demonstrated by AAPPM leadership is second to none."
"The very best organizations work diligently to create, endorse, and/or provide access to successful tools of a demonstrable nature, and the new Certified Medical Office Manager-Podiatry, created with AAPPM subject matter experts, will be just that," said Moore.
Registration for the program is expected to be available by mid-May. Training webinars are expected to be available in July. Trainers are handpicked, well-known leaders in Podiatric Office Management. Program dates and information will be distributed via the AAPPM website.
