Caregiver's Corner is part of our continuing commitment to parents of special needs children and families caring for disabled adults.
PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 10, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The role of caregiver to a special needs child or disabled adult requires a special compassion. It can be both very rewarding and highly stressful. Any caregiver may feel isolated at times and in need of answers to perplexing questions and emotional support.
The Colleran Firm is pleased to present our Caregiver's Corner, a comprehensive online resource to help parents of special needs children and caregivers of adults with disabilities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Colleran Firm has a special admiration for caregivers and the creation of Caregiver's Corner is part of our way of supporting caregivers dealing with challenging situations.
"Caregiver's Corner is part of our continuing commitment to parents of special needs children and families caring for disabled adults," said Philadelphia attorney David J. Colleran. "Caregivers have lots of demands on their time. We saw a need for a centralized online database where caregivers could quickly turn for answers to their questions and share information about resources that others may find helpful."
At Caregiver's Corner, you will find a wealth of reliable information and listings of resources to address a wide range of needs. Caregiver's Corner contains listings of organizations, upcoming events, caregiver get-togethers, hotlines, support groups, businesses that serve the needs of people with disabilities and other relevant data.
Many questions that caregivers confront from day to day involve issues that others might take for granted. For example: Where to get a haircut? At Caregiver's Corner, there is an answer. Under listings of businesses that serve people with special needs, there is a link to the Travelling Barbers based in Trenton, N.J., who provide professional, in-home hair care for the disabled.
Caregiver's Corner contains a number of free e-books available to download discussing caring for your parents, tips to ease the stress of being a family caregiver and approaches to supporting a child with mental health needs and financial education for young adults with a disability.
There are links to organizations and websites that are committed to helping support caregivers and those with special needs. They include, for example:
- Mom2Mom which provides peer support to mothers of special needs children
- A hotline to report missing people with intellectual disabilities
- How Technology Can Help Those Living with a Cognitive Disability
Caregiver's Corner is interactive, so people who use it can add additional resources that they have found helpful that may be of interest to others in the special needs community. Users can click on the up or down arrows beside resources to indicate the ones that they have found helpful.
"It's our sincere hope that this online database will be helpful to caregivers in our region and that people will add their own insights and information to make it even more useful," Colleran said.
