HOUSTON, TX, May 18, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- At the 2016 Houston Comedy Film Festival, "Fun With Hackley: Axe Murderer", an independent feature film comedy from the Austin based production company Slash Consortium premiered at the Houston Comedy Film Festival at the 14 Pews venue in Houston, TX. The film, directed by T. E. Sanders and written by former National Lampoon writer Garrett Hargrove, represented itself well at the festival by taking home four of the Festival's top awards.

"Fun with Hackley" screened alongside a number of other independent films from across the globe including other award winners "Think Twice" from Chicago based filmmaker Eliaz Rodriguez and "Get the Hell Out" from the Comedia A Go-Go comedy group out of San Antonio, Texas.

Voting for the Houston Comedy FIlm Festival is conducted by twelve industry professionals from across the USA. Submission totals for the festival were upwards of 100 feature films and more than 400 short and micro-short films. Other feature film selections that were in consideration for the Best Feature Film and other feature film accolades were the award winning feature, "Driving While Black" and the international sensation "Just Like In the Movies" from Lima, Peru.

"Fun With Hackley" is an independent comedy feature film made in Texas from award winning Director T. E. Sanders and former National Lampoon writer, Garrett Hargrove that chronicles the adventures of Hackley. Since 1980, Hackley has personified fear. This prolific masked serial killer has axed his way through hundreds during his reign of terror. He doesn't kill because he's crazy. It's just his job. The film follows him in the current day as he stumbles at the office and rethinks his life, love and career. Hackley struggles with an incompetent manager, rival serial killers and antiquated rules as he tries to regain his love of killing.
