HUNTSVILLE, AL, May 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The law firm of Morris, King, & Hodge P.C. is pleased to congratulate the three students who are winners of our 2016 Driver Safety Scholarship Contest.
Morris, King & Hodge, P.C. invited high school seniors and college freshmen to submit original 1,000-word essays on the important topic: How can we educate our community about the dangers of distracted driving and what are some practical ways we can drastically reduce distracted driving related accidents? The law firm's goal was to increase awareness of a serious traffic safety issue that is a particular problem among young drivers. The law firm increased the amount of scholarships awarded from $3,000 last time to $4,200 this year. More than 50 students took part in the Driver Safety Scholarship Contest.
The three scholarship contest winners are:
First Place--Lauren Faulkner, a senior at Grissom High School in Huntsville, will receive the first place scholarship. She plans to attend Auburn University and major in industrial design. An attorney at Morris, King & Hodge will present the check during the Grissom High School Awards Program and Reception on May 23 at Willowbrook Baptist Church.
Second Place--Samin Riyaz, who is a senior at Huntsville High School, will receive the second place scholarship. She plans to study bio-medical sciences at Brock University in Canada and specialize in a professional medical field. The check will be presented during the Senior Award Ceremony on May 24 at Huntsville High School.
Third Place--Nour Qushair, a senior at Clemens High School in Madison, will receive the third place scholarship. She plans to study business at the University of Alabama Huntsville. The check will be presented during the Senior Awards Ceremony on May 17 at James Clemens High School.
The winning essays were selected based on style, originality of content, and accuracy.
