Career Step Highlights How to Find Quality Work-At-Home Opportunities in New Video

Career Step has released a video with ways to differentiate between real work-at-home jobs and scams.

LEHI, UT, May 20, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, has released a new video that highlights how to spot a legitimate home-based employment opportunity among the many work-at-home scams in the job market.

"The reality of scams should not deter people from taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a flexible, lower-stress career from home," said Jerolyn Robertson, Career Step Vice President of Academics. "As a company, we value giving our students the flexibility and portability of an online education, and we want to give them the tools needed to continue enjoying at-home flexibility through careers with reputable companies. As long as people are savvy, they can reap financial and personal rewards working from home."

The two-minute video begins with some statistics about working from home, including that 90 percent of home-based employees say they are happier with their work-life balance. Working from home can be ideal for individuals in varied circumstances, including parents, military spouses, retirees and people with disabilities, and it is on the rise for growing industries such as healthcare, information technology and marketing.

However, there are 60 scams for every real work-at-home opportunity, and so it becomes vital to understand how to spot the real jobs from the rip-offs. The video gives four ways to verify a job's legitimacy: research companies online, ask peers and current employees for references, look into what people in the industry are saying about the company and invest cautiously if a company requires payment before beginning work.

"We talk with students every day who need home-based employment, and we are pleased we can provide them with training for legitimate, high-quality careers at home," said Ben Hartman, Career Step Vice President of Enrollments. "Telecommuting is a huge perk in today's online-driven world, and as a company, we look forward to seeing how the career landscape will evolve as more and more companies shift to work-at-home situations."

Career Step has been training students to work at home for more than 20 years, with career-focused programs in healthcare, technology and administration. Its online education programs provide students with freedom and flexibility to train on their schedule and at their own pace, making it an ideal fit for nontraditional students who prefer to learn from home.
