CORPUS CHRISTI, TX, May 20, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Herrman & Herrman, P.L.L.C, a personal law firm which serves the Rio Grande Valley, is investigating the OGA Charters bus crash in South Texas on behalf of one of the bus passengers who was seriously injured in the accident and sought representation from the firm.
The bus accident, which occurred on May 14, is one of the most deadly in Texas in recent years.
The bus, owned and operated by OGA Charters, started in the Rio Grande Valley and was en route to the Kikaboo Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel in Eagle Pass about 120 miles northwest of Laredo, Texas when the rollover accident occurred on Highway 83 just south of the Dimmit County line.
The bus driver lost control and the bus flipped over. No other vehicles were involved. According to a news source, the National Transportation Safety Board concluded "the crash was caused when a retreaded tire on the right front axle was punctured by an unknown object."
The National Transportation Safety Board noted that the tire was attached to the front axle illegally. According to the Board, the bus company didn't have authority to leave Texas after failing an inspection three months earlier. The company that examined the bus was not equipped to determine whether or not the bus was safe to be on the road.
According to the NTSB, the OGA Charters has had a total of five roadside inspections in the last two years, during which two buses were removed from service for brake problems and problems with an emergency exit. The bus company is based in San Juan in Hidalgo County.
