Associate Attorney William B. Young Jr. Wins Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award from The Florida Bar for 10th Consecutive Year

    ORLANDO, FL, May 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter announced Thursday that associate attorney William B. Young Jr. is the subject of accolades from two major legal organizations. The American Association for Justice (AAJ) has named Young the chair of the association's Business Torts section and the co-chair of the Securities and Financial Fraud litigation group.

Young has also been awarded The Florida Bar's Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award. It is the 10th time he has won this prestigious recognition since 2006.

"The Florida Bar and AAJ exist to strengthen the practice of law through integrity and forward-thinking," Young said. "It is truly an honor to be recognized by both of these groups."

The AAJ hosts 18 special sections that bring attorneys who focus their practice on specific areas of law together so they can share litigation strategies, knowledge and trial experience. Litigation groups are established to counter the "overwhelming resources of corporate counsel" on a wide variety of legal issues such as defective products and drugs, antitrust lawsuits, birth trauma and more.

Pro bono awards issued annually by The Florida Bar "give special recognition to lawyers, groups and a member of the judiciary who have freely given their time and expertise in making legal services available to the poor." Young and other winners will be honored at a ceremony at the Florida Supreme Court on Thursday, Jan. 28.

"Giving back is a key part of my legal philosophy," Young said. "Going to court is often expensive, and I believe that attorneys who donate their time and services to help those who otherwise might not be able to afford it are doing a service to the community."
