The Jackie Mason Musical Running For Thirty-Five Years

    BOCA RATON, FL, June 09, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Reiter played herself when the show opened in Miami Beach, Florida in 1983, explaining during the play that having Mason's child was just "wishful thinking". Today, their daughter, stand-up comic Sheba Mason, 30, plays Reiter (her mother), and a series of actors have played Jackie Mason, including Sheba's boyfriend Ian Wehrle, 32, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Jackie Mason. The show keeps coming back like the pastrami sandwich you ate at Ben's Delicatessen.

The story begins  at a deli in Miami Beach, in 1977, where Jackie - a renown 46 year old Comedian,(played by Robert Gordon),  spots twenty-something Ginger. Along for the ride is her overbearing mom, Mrs. Olivier, (Cherrill Rae),  and a hilarious cast of six. Soon Jackie is wooing her each winter whenever he's in South Florida churning up laughs with the South Beach set. The trouble is, Jackie is also wooing  Trixie, a ravishing young Latina Rascal House server, and Rosa, a elderly Rascal House server with attitude - a fact that sends Ginger into romantic distress.  After ten years, she becomes pregnant, Jackie denies his paternity, while still yearning to be with her, and a complicated relationship begins, including Sheba's own love for the man she knows is her father and whom she wishes she knew.  Rounding out the cast are Scott Travis as Wooley the Schlepalong, and Joseph Long as Nelson Zee.  The Original Score  includes "Ode to the Early Bird Special" and "I Never Met This Yenta", written by Reiter, the girl in the eye of the comedic storm. At the Lake Worth Playhouse Stonzek Theatre, 713 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth, Florida on June 18 and June 19.

About Sheba Mason
Sheba's first stage role at the age of two was as a prop in one of her mother's plays. Raised in Boca Raton, she is a stand-up comic. Her home base is in the New York comedy clubs, including The Broadway Comedy Club, The New York Comedy Club, and The Comic Strip; she also appears throughout the country, including Las Vegas and California. Sheba is often a guest on the Artie Lang Show, and recently filmed an comic imitation of Kanye West for MTV. Sheba has been performing as her mother Ginger in the Off Broadway version of The Jackie Mason Musical since 2013.

Ginger Reiter quit teaching at Wellington High School, Wellington, Florida, in 2014 to focus full-time on managing the musicals and comedies she writes. Other plays include 700 Wives The Musical - Solomon's Saga (Off Off Broadway), and Mel Schwartz Sleeps with Mae West, a Transgender Comedy opening at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale in September 2016. She claims that Jackie Mason was more than a love - he was "an experience and an education" - and riotously funny off stage.
