Shirley D. Hall Named Professional of the Year in Education

    COWDEN, IL, June 10, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shirley D. Hall, Retired Learning Disability Teacher of Cowden-Herrick CUSD 3A, has been named a Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in Education. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

Prior to her retirement, Ms. Hall accumulated 35 years of experience as a learning disability teacher of the Cowden-Herrick CUSD 3A. As an expert in home economics, she is primarily responsible for assisting teachers. She is now an assistant teacher for the GED program for Lakeland College on Monday and Thursday evenings. Ms. Hall conducts general education development classes. Since all the teachers know her, she can step into any classroom and follow their lesson plans, and the teachers have full confidence in her to do that. She loves to see her students receive their GED diploma, knowing that she helped them get there step by step. She attributes her success to her passion for her profession.

Ms. Hall received a bachelor's degree in education, with a concentration in learning disabilities, from Eastern Illinois University in 1980, the same year she received a bachelor's degree in home economics and adult education, also from Eastern Illinois University. She is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Council on Education. In years to come, Ms. Hall hopes to continue working as a substitute teacher.
