CARLSBAD, NM, June 17, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Antoine Halff, Director of the Global Oil Markets Research Program with the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, is expected to address issues related to oil production in the Permian Basin during the upcoming Carlsbad Mayor's Energy Summit, Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway has announced.
The Carlsbad Mayor's Energy Summit 2016 is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Carlsbad's Walter Gerrells Performing Arts Center annex. It is the community's fourth energy summit - last year's summit featured billionaire T. Boone Pickens and New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez.
"I don't know if it would be possible to find a better global expert on the oil market than Antoine Halff," Mayor Janway stated. "While we've always worked to make our annual summit educational, the goal of this year's summit is to really take an in-depth economic look into oil and gas. Understanding this topic is of critical importance to legislators, investors and business owners."
Antoine Halff is Senior Fellow and Director of the Global Oil Markets Research Program at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University. His 20-year career in energy spans the worlds of government, international organizations, consulting, Wall Street, higher education and the media. He joined the Center in September 2015 from his previous position as Chief Oil Analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA). Prior to that, Halff served as Lead Industry Economist at the U.S. Energy Information Administration and at firms Newedge and Fimat as First Vice President and Head of Commodity Research.
Mayor Janway said the annual summit's planning committee includes representatives of oil and gas companies active in the region, local elected officials and community business leaders.
"We're working very closely with members of the oil and gas industry and anticipate having several excellent speakers from the industry at this year's summit," said Event Chair Oran Means. "We can't thank our corporate partners enough."
Attendance at the one-day summit is free, but registration is limited. Attendance includes a steak lunch, courtesy of the event's sponsors. To register early, please contact [email protected] or 575-887-3798.
