In his career, Dr. McBride has been responsible for managing major exploration and due diligence programs in seven countries and four languages, including Argentina, Mexico, Mongolia, Canada, Haiti, Ghana and Australia. He handles all facets of mineral exploration with projects in Dominican Republic, Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, Indonesia, Ireland, Philippines, Peru, Ukraine and Ghana. This work has included glaciated, non-glaciated and tropical terrains. Derek also advises investment groups on the technical merit and potential of possible acquisitions. In 2016 he coauthored a revolutionary book on gold deposits titled "The Metallogeny of Lode Gold Deposits: A Syngenetic Perspective" in which he and his coauthor present a comprehensive study of gold deposits and provide guidelines for their exploration and exploitation. He remains active and enjoys international challenges.

Dr. McBride earned a Ph. D. in mineral deposits, structure and stratigraphy from the University of New Brunswick in 1976, a Master of Science in geology engineering from Queens University in 1972, a Bachelor of Science in geology engineering from Queens University in 1968 , and a mining technology deploma from the Haileybury School of Mines in 1965.
