Northside Plastic Surgery Earns AAAASF Accreditation for Patient Safety

    ATLANTA, GA, June 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Northside Plastic Surgery and the Greater Atlanta Plastic Surgery Center has been awarded accreditation from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF), which is considered to be a mark of commitment to patient safety. In order to achieve accreditation, Northside Plastic Surgery's ambulatory surgery center, the Greater Atlanta Plastic Surgery Center, had to achieve 100 percent compliance with the AAAASF's standards.

To earn its accreditation, Greater Atlanta Plastic Surgery Center passed inspection on hundreds of important criteria concerning patient safety. Inspection criteria included the general environment; operating room environment, policies, and procedures; recovery room environment, policies, and procedures; general safety in the facility; blood and medications; medical Records; quality assessment and quality improvement; personnel; and anesthesia.

"The AAAASF accreditation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to not only patient safety, but also in achieving the highest standards of patient care," said Mike Majmundar, M.D., a double-board certified facial plastic surgeon. "Providing outstanding patient outcomes is our ultimate goal, but never at the expense of patient safety."

AAAASF was established in 1980 to standardize and improve the quality of medical and surgical care in outpatient facilities and assure the public that patient safety is top priority in an accredited facility. More than 2,400 outpatient facilities are accredited by AAAASF, one of the largest not-for-profit accrediting organizations in the United States. Surgeons, legislators, state and national health agencies and patients acknowledge that AAAASF sets the "gold standard" for quality patient care. In addition, AAAASF facility inspectors are board certified medical specialists trained to perform a thorough and complete facility inspection.
