Hoover Penrod PLC Partner Hannah Hutman Appointed Private Trustee for the Western District of Virginia by U.S. Trustee Program

    HARRISONBURG, VA, June 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The law firm of Hoover Penrod PLC announced Wednesday that the U.S. Trustee Program has appointed partner attorney Hannah Hutman as a private trustee for the Western District of Virginia. In her capacity as a private trustee, Hutman will administer liquidation proceedings under chapter 7 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

"Hannah started a successful bankruptcy practice from scratch when she came to Harrisonburg a few years ago, so we were delighted when she joined our firm in January 2015," said Jacob Penrod, a partner at Hoover Penrod PLC. "Now, this trustee appointment will complete the circle for her, providing a 360-degree perspective on this highly complex area of the law."

According to the U.S. Trustee Program, chapter 7 trustees are responsible for the collection, liquidation and distribution of debtor assets to creditors. Part of the Department of Justice, the program acts as "the watchdog over the bankruptcy process" and strives to bring bankruptcy cases to a "just, speedy and economical resolution."

United States trustees are appointed by the U.S. attorney general. These U.S. trustees then appoint private trustees to administer bankruptcy proceedings in their respective districts.

Hutman is empanelled in Region 4 of the U.S Trustee Program, which includes the Western District of Virginia as well as federal judicial districts in South Carolina; Washington, D.C.; West Virginia; and Maryland. The Western District office is located in Roanoke, Virginia.
