Conway Manufacturing Group Celebrates 20 Years of Ownership Tony and Marti Davis Purchased the Company in 1996

    CONWAY, AR, June 24, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The employees of Conway Manufacturing Group today surprised the owners, Tony and Marti Davis of Conway, with a commemorative plaque and signed photo in honor of the 20th anniversary of their purchase of the company. The gifts were presented by their daughter, Rachael Cox, who is also an employee at Conway Manufacturing Group.

"Wow!" said company president Tony Davis, as he was handed the group photo. "I can't believe you all did this for us!" Tony and Marti Davis purchased the company in 1996 after returning home to Arkansas from a long stint in Indiana. They are both Certified Public Accountants and graduates of the University of Central Arkansas.

"When we bought the place, they were still doing everything on typewriters!" CEO Marti Davis laughed remembering the early days of the Conway Manufacturing Group.

Today, the office looks very different, with two to three monitors at every desk, sophisticated engineering software, and Cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) systems in place. Since 2001, the company has been ISO Series Certified and complimentary to that, is a certified Woman-Owned Small Business.

"The equipment has changed too," noted Vice President of Operations Nicky Havens, who remembers when the Davises bought the company. "Back then everything was manual lathes."

Conway Manufacturing Group now boasts several new, high-dollar Swiss-style CNC turning machines as well as several vertical and horizontal CNC mills.

"You've got to keep your equipment up-to-date if you're going to stay competitive," explained Tony.

The company has done a good job of competing, especially since bouncing back after the economic downturn in 2009. It began to see significant growth in 2012, especially through exporting, and received the Governor's Award for Excellence in Global Trade in 2013. Sales have continued to climb despite further downturns in key industries like oil and gas or fluid power.

"We realized after 2008 that we had to diversify," Marti said. "It was a sink-or-swim moment, and we decided that in order to swim, we needed multiple lifejackets."

As a result, Conway Manufacturing Group began offering new products and seeking out clients in new industries. This type of foresight has led to other ventures that will be announced in the upcoming months.
