LANGLEY, BC, July 31, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- YES Medspa & Cosmetic Surgery Centre is the first practice in Western Canada to offer SculpSure®, a non-invasive liposuction alternative recently approved by Health Canada.
"Our medical spa in Vancouver is known for being on the leading edge when it comes to providing advanced technologies that benefit our patients," Dr. Mosher says. "SculpSure adds to our broad range of unique body contouring treatments, and patients will love how convenient and easy it is."
SculpSure is the first non-invasive laser treatment approved by Health Canada for reducing fat in the flanks and abdomen. It works by using laser energy to heat the targeted fat cells, which gradually die over the course of a few weeks following the procedure. Patients remain comfortable during the treatment because the device cools the skin when the laser is activated.
Dr. Mosher says SculpSure is often compared to CoolSculpting, another popular non-invasive fat reduction treatment that destroys fat cells by cooling them. But, he says, SculpSure offers patients a number of advantages.
"CoolSculpting treatments suck the targeted area between 2 cooling plates of a very specific shape and size, tugging and pulling the tissue," he says. "That's not the case with SculpSure. The device lays flat on top of the tissue, offering more versatility of which fat contours can be treated. In the clinical trials, discomfort has been rated as very minimal and it's safe for patients of all skin types and colors."
Additionally, Dr. Mosher says, clinical tests show SculpSure treatments take about half the time of a CoolSculpting procedure while getting similar results. The ideal length of time for each SculpSure treatment session is 25 minutes, while CoolSculpting lasts at least an hour and up to 3 hours for certain areas.
Cynosure, the company that makes SculpSure, says in clinical studies more than 90% of the patients reported being satisfied with the outcomes and said the treatment was comfortable.
"SculpSure is versatile," Dr. Mosher says. "There are 4 separate applicators so the patient can have multiple areas treated at the same time."
Some patients who may not be good candidates for a non-invasive treatment such as SculpSure may be more suited for Smartlipo or other liposuction techniques, the Vancouver specialist says. Smartlipo is a minimally invasive laser liposuction procedure that results in less bruising, more skin tightening, and a shorter recovery than traditional liposuction. He also offers other body contouring treatments such as PrecisionTx and Venus Legacy.
"There are a lot of effective options now," Dr. Mosher says. "The key is for patients to consult with a plastic surgeon who is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and experienced in the latest technologies and procedures before deciding on a treatment plan."
Dr. Mathew Mosher is founder and director of YES Medspa and Cosmetic Surgery Centre, one of the largest solo cosmetic plastic surgery practices in Canada. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a past president of the Canadian Laser Aesthetic Surgery Society, and an educator of plastic surgery residents and practicing plastic surgeons. At his Vancouver practice, Dr. Mosher specializes in advanced techniques in cosmetic surgery as well as state-of-the-art non-surgical options. Because of the diversity of treatments he offers, patients have the freedom to choose the procedures that work best for their needs and lifestyles. In addition to his aesthetic plastic surgery work, Dr. Mosher volunteers with Project H.A.N.D.S. to provide plastic and reconstructive surgery for people in need in remote areas of Guatemala.
