ST. LOUIS, MO, August 11, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Katie's Pizza and Pasta Osteria in Rock Hill is proud to announce their upcoming Giveback Tuesday event, which will benefit Catherine Cares. The event is slated for Tues., August 30.
Every month Katie's Pizza and Pasta Osteria features a local nonprofit charity and donates 100 percent of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. To date, Katie's Pizza and Pasta Osteria has raised over $70,000 for local charities.
Catherine Cares provides restaurant and fuel gift cards to families of children who receive a devastating diagnosis. They provide gift cards to their hospital partners, which include Mercy Hospital, Cardinal Glennon, St. Louis Children's Hospital, and Missouri Baptist in St. Louis and Cincinnati Fetal Center in Cincinnati. These gift cards are distributed through the hospitals to families when a diagnosis is given.
"Our gift cards help alleviate an immediate need that families might have," said Lauren Turley, founder and co-owner of Catherine Cares. "When your world is shaken by an unexpected diagnosis, taking care of everyday tasks like meal planning and grocery shopping seems much too overwhelming. Our gift cards help take away that stress during an extremely emotional time and let the families know that they are not alone."
Currently, Catherine Cares is embarking on a new project, which will provide Catherine Cares Build-A-Bear Heartbeat Bears to families.
"When a baby receives a life-threatening prenatal diagnosis, our hospital partners will have the ability to record the heartbeat of the baby, put the recording device in the bear, and present the bear to the family," said Turley. "Not knowing how much time they will have with their precious baby, the family will be able to cherish the sound of their baby's heartbeat for years to come."
Catherine Cares began in December 2014 when Turley was 31-weeks pregnant with her second daughter, Catherine Marie.
"My husband Wayne and I discovered that Catherine was given a prenatal diagnosis of Trisomy-18 and was given a short life expectancy," said Turley. "She was born unexpectedly at 33 weeks and lived for an hour. Catherine Cares is her legacy."
Since becoming a 501(c)(3) in March 2015, Catherine Cares has donated over $12,000 worth of gift cards to their hospital partners. All funds raised during this Giveback Tuesday will go toward restaurant gift cards to Katie's Pizza and Pasta Osteria, as well as to help cover the initial costs of their heartbeat bears.
Katie's Pizza and Pasta Osteria is open every day at 11 a.m. and features Happy Hour specials from 3 to 5 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m. Carry-outs are also available.
