"It's all about your breath and there are 100's of ways to breathe in and out to meet our daily needs. Breathing is the foundation of all movement, health & well-being," says Ed.
DENVER, CO, August 17, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Speaker, executive coach, health & wellbeing expert, peak performance coach and soon to be author, Ed Harrold, brings 18 years of experience successfully implementing programs with a mind/body health model into corporate, fitness and athletic industries. His passion now is collaborating with the healthcare industry by offering continuing medical education programs to provide tools and strategies to prevent, treat and reverse lifestyle-related chronic diseases caused or exacerbated by unhealthy habits. Harrold is hosting his 25-Hour Breath AS Medicine Training in the Cleveland area from September 30th to October 2nd. His 100-Hour Simplicity of Stress For Physician Wellness begins February 24th to February 26th in Washington, DC on the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences campus.
"It's all about your breath and there are 100's of ways to breathe in and out to meet our daily needs. Breathing is the foundation of all movement, health & well-being," says Ed. "Respiration patterns and rates influence physiology, biochemistry, biomechanics and psychological responses. These responses play a large role in our ability to manage stress, improve and/or are the cause of ill-health, enjoy healthful fitness routines, manage cognition and emotional intelligence as well as our ability to improve lifestyle habits leading to poor health. I find so little knowledge and application on the powerful effects of respiratory physiology for improving health, prevention, recovery and resilience. That's going to change."
Mind/body medicine has become its' own highly regarded field with physicians, psychiatrists and other health care professionals increasingly adopting integrative techniques as part of their everyday practice for self-care, complimentary patient care and lifestyle medicine. Therapeutic yoga & yoga breathing are arguably the most comprehensive approach we have to reducing stress and building physical & psychological resiliency.
Harrold's goal with these trainings is two-fold:
- To provide the education and tools for self-care and patient care to improve patient and population health while providing inexpensive tools and strategies to improve patient wellness.
- To "Heal The Healers". Physicians and healthcare providers are the #1 stressed demographic in employee data compared to any other industry. Understanding the definition of both physical and psychological resiliency, our "Healers" need the same self-care and lifestyle medicine training as their patients to live with the stressors of our demanding personal and professional lives.
Very few programs have been approved with yoga teachers to teach for CME; until now. In designing our Simplicity Of Stress For Physician Wellness as a training for healthcare professionals, we wanted to combine the physical, psychological and emotional aspects of resiliency training through the lens of mind/body medicine. Specifically, a program that combined the art, science and philosophy of yoga, yoga breathing & mindfulness-based strategies as the basis for physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing in a lifestyle medicine training. Our Breath As Medicine Training is an educational and experiential training applying yoga breathing in stress reduction and as a complementary care and prevention tool in patient lifestyle medicine. We are thrilled to partner with George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Services to deliver a program led by yoga instructors and supported by healthcare professionals.
