CINCINNATI, OH, August 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When Patricia Pendleton went to visit her ailing father in small-town Upton, Wyoming, she had no idea it would fundamentally change her life. By the time she returned to her Cincinnati home, the career HR professional was on a path to establish her own company and purchase her father's business in order to preserve its legacy. That was in 2010.
Today, Pendleton is quite comfortable, and successful, as CEO and owner of Olde Tyme Remedies, the manufacturer of Unker's and NATURub brands of therepeutic pain relievers. She has transformed her father's business from its modest beginnings as a door-to-door sales operation, to one with modern manufacturing, new packaging, growing distribution and expanded marketing.
Throughout the transformation, however, Pendleton held fast to the legacy company's core values. Both the Unker's salve and NATURub spray had to be made with all-natural ingredients, even with the availability of lower-cost artificial substitutes. In addition, both brands were to remain 100% sourced and made in the USA, something near and dear to her father's, and her own, sense of patriotism.
In the 1980s, Unker's was advertised in Amish-community newspapers. Today, consumers can see Unker's appearing on The Balancing Act airing on Lifetime Television, a nationally broadcast TV show that airs weekday mornings.
An upcoming segment of the show will discuss natural solutions for health and wellness, which fits Unker's to a tee. Unker's salve and NATURub spray have been made from all-natural essential oils such as camphor and eucalyptus ever since Pendleton's father began making the products in his garage in the early 1980s. The formula itself dates back to the early 1900s, discovered in a library book by another Pendleton ancestor who sought to hand-craft a salve for his family's aches and pains.
Pendleton's goal for the TV appearance is simple: to share her story and introduce her brands to more people.
While Ms. Pendleton's appearance on The Balancing Act will be her first on national TV, it won't be the first time that Unker's has been on a national stage. Through business connections, Ms. Pendleton met NASCAR driver Mike Wallace, which led to a sponsorship and the Unker's logo being emblazened on the side of Wallace's #28 car during the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Daytona. Little did Pendleton know that at that time, her business was racing towards the future.
The segment featuring Pendleton and Unker's is scheduled to air nationaly on August 29 and September 5, 2016.
