Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Claire Dobson as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Claire Dobson, Owner and Photographer of Claire Dobson Photography, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Claire Dobson will be featured in Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

Creating a business for herself where she could express her creativity in the form of photographs, Claire Dobson founded Claire Dobson Photography in 2008. A single mother at the time, she was just 24-years-old at the time, but she had a strong support system at home, and her father was more than supportive of her dreams.

"At the time, I was working for my dad who is the owner of a very successful planning firm in the town I grew up in," Dobson recalled. "I quit working for him and entered art school to pursue my real passion of photography."

However, not long into the program, Dobson began doing side jobs to earn a living while working toward her degree. She was getting so many contracts, it became overwhelming and she had to make a choice. Choosing to quit school and get right to work, her son's best interest was always at the forefront.

"I have never been drawn toward or enjoyed tradition education. I've always learned better by doing things myself or having someone show me hands-on," she added.

Nearly a decade later and Dobson's career has make fantastic strides. A modern wedding and boudoir photography studio, Claire Dobson Photography has since been featured in some of the best wedding blogs and magazines in the business, including Style Me Pretty, Love & Wander, Grey Likes Weddings, The Lovely Bay, The Bride Box, Wedding Wire Blog, and Stylish Bride, and was a 2014 The Knot Best of Weddings Pick.

Centrally located in the San Francisco Bay area, Dobson specializes in weddings, engagements, and boudoir sessions. Her style is eclectic, yet fun, and her photography is a true work of art.

Cognizant of the fact that photography is a business that is constantly evolving, Dobson is sure to keep up with trends, yet confident enough in her skills to stick to certain traditional elements in her photo shoots. She offers one-on-one consultations with other photographers, typically those first starting out, to help them get their businesses off the ground. She particularly enjoys the marketing and social media aspect of business development.

"In this day and age, it doesn't take a lot to become a photographer, but it takes a lot to stay in business as a photographer," Dobson noted.

Participating in various charity events when she is needed, she recently teamed up with Dogs for Diabetics, a non-profit organization that she has a great deal of respect for and has a special place in her heart since she has been a type-1 diabetes since the age of five.

Dobson's former years were spent as a horse trainer. Working for some of the best professionals in the field, she learned more about business than she ever could have learned in business school, like how to politely say "no" to a client when necessary and how to market herself based on her strengths.
