CHICAGO, IL, August 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sue Swinger-Ellbogen, Owner of Sue Swinger-Ellbogen Freelance Writing Business and Creative, has been recognized with an Excellence Award as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Sue Swinger-Ellbogen will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016/2017.
Four years ago, after being laid off from her full-time role in the corporate world, Sue Swinger-Ellbogen decided to turn the experience into a positive by forming her own business. Initially, she began doing favors for friends and former co-workers who also found themselves out of work and looking for employment, but after realizing just how successful she was at resume writing, she decided to turn her talents into a business.
"I began writing resumes for others right after the layoff, something I did for more than six months," Swinger-Ellbogen explained. "I wrote over 40 of them in total. The best part was that the results of these well-written resumes resulted in 98% of my friends and former co-workers acquiring jobs in under three months and all 100% acquiring positions in six months of time. It was such a positive experience for me."
Since that time, Swinger-Ellbogen started her business, called Freelance Writing Business and Creative, which is based in Chicago, Illinois. Helping clients with their resumes after first sitting down with them to discuss their industry preferences, professional skills, and former work experience, she also works to ensure they all have a LinkedIn profile that is fully optimized, counsels them as to how to conduct a focused job search, and prepares them for upcoming interviews. Relying on her own experience of having worked in corporate for many years, she is able to confidently guide clients in the right direction throughout the entire job search process.
"Having worked in apparel, fitness, and the consumer package goods industries, I've learned how to ask prudent questions of my clients to incorporate the proper information that will be most beneficial for them," Swinger-Ellbogen said. "By using my own experiences, I am also able to successfully encourage them to reach their potential, helping them understand their personal aspirations and motives as well as identifying their strengths and skills."
Believing in oneself is a major contributing factor in acquiring a great job. By bringing her clients' talents to light, Swinger-Ellbogen is better able to help them feel confident when job searching. She also believes in the power of inspiring young minds as early as possible, and she does this through her writings.
"I've written and published four young adult novels to date, and the fifth one will be released in late 2016," Swinger-Ellbogen said. "By writing these creative books, I can teach the younger generation that they can do anything they aspire to do and are willing to work for. Reading changed my life and it can change others' as well."
Swinger-Ellbogen's first two books were published in 2010, titled 'Campfire Kids' and 'Tabby Cat Trails'. 'Missing in Tuscany' followed in 2013, then 'Adventures in Shanghai' in 2015. 'The Dali Mystery' is currently in the works and she is now working on writing two others simultaneously. She also self-published a cookbook in her daughter's memory who passed away of breast cancer in 2014. The cookbook is called 'Lee Anne's Birthday Celebration Cookbook'. All of Swinger-Ellbogen's books can be found for purchase on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
Active as a member of National Organization of Professional Women, Supply Chain Management Professionals, and Women in Supply Chain Management, Swinger-Ellbogen also volunteers by making quilts for Lutheran Women's Relief and for friends and family, writes memoirs for people who've lost loved ones or pets, and writes resumes pro bono for those that cannot afford services. She holds an AA in Liberal Arts from Three Rivers Community College, later earned a Supply Chain Management Certificate in 2004 at University of Tennessee, and earned a Project Management Certificate through Right Management Outplacement in 2012.
