Journey to the Heart of the World...carries ancient wisdom, wrapped in a vision quest, inside an adventure story. -- Michael Brune, Executive Director, Sierra Club
NEW YORK, NY, September 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Humanitas Media Publishing (http://www.humanitasmedia.com) has released its next offering, Journey to the Heart of the World, a Paulo Coelho-reminiscent work of fiction by author John Lundin that has been praised by such luminaries as best-selling author Marianne Williamson, National Geographic Explorer of the Millennium Wade Davis, Executive Director of the Sierra Club, Michael Brune, and environmental activist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez.
Lundin, having previously written The New Mandala: Eastern Wisdom for Western Living in collaboration with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, has with this work turned to fiction for a parable about humanity, indigenous wisdom, and the need for a more profound consciousness when it comes to environmental issues and spiritual insights necessary to not just survive, but thrive in a challenging world.
The book had been written over the last three years while Lundin has lived among the indigenous tribes of the Sierra Nevada of Colombia. The Kindle version was released in 2015.
Additionally, a portion of proceeds from the work will be going to help to preserve the indigenous culture, education, and the environment of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta where these tribes reside.
An interview with Lundin about the book and its subject matter was published in the Huffington Post via http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kj-wetherholt/indigenous-and-environmen_b_7642056.html

Every voice that comes out of Colombia's Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is a vision of hope. John Lundin writes from the heart, and the heart that he invokes is the very heart of the world, the mountains of the Elder Brothers, the homeland of the Kogi, Arhuacos and Wiwa. His book, like their message, is a road map to a new dream of the Earth.

When we begin a journey it leads us through some of the most amazing trails! One of these trails can be an inspiring step into a world filled with experiences that perhaps would seem to be a dream. Yet, it is real, then it's surreal - because the sights and sounds around you are so illuminated by the elements in their most natural state, and the people are also illuminated in their relationship and understanding of the world. Journey to the Heart of the World, a novel by John Lundin, is a subtle reminder that there are experiences and trails that lead us to the top of the mountain where one will see the world from a whole new perspective. Reading the book gave me moments of wonder and a knowing smile - I could relate.

Every now and then, a book comes along that uniquely and powerfully points the way toward a new and important wisdom that humanity must embrace: John Lundin's Journey to the Heart of the World is just this kind of book. Taking you from the mountains of New York to the mountains of Colombia and back again, this journey has so much of value to start the next generation on the right path, and to help those of older generations find the path that can bring harmony to our relations with one another and with the Earth.

There are other worlds on this beautiful planet of ours. What a tragedy that so many never experience them -- their flowers, birds, butterflies, trees, and the peoples who live among them. So, it takes a dream to get this story's hero to make his journey, but it is a profound one. Loving the natural world is not merely a spiritual prescription, but practical advice essential for our survival conveyed by those who live in closest contact to it.

Journey to the Heart of the World is an imaginative adventure story which urges us to pay attention to our relationship to the Earth. A real reflection of the environmental destruction the planet faces today, the story inspires and reminds young readers to listen to the natural world to recover love for the Earth. It is a journey to help us remember the real magic of life that we have forgotten, to reconnect with the great conversation of life.
