Healthcare Jobs Fair Leading the Battle to Reduce NHS Agency Costs

    LONDON, ENGLAND, September 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A series of employer-only healthcare job fairs are taking place in Manchester, Dublin and London next month with the aim of assisting both NHS and private healthcare employers to directly recruit doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health and social care professionals for permanent and substantive roles.

"The rising cost of temporary agency staff including doctors and nurses can only be reduced by employers directly recruiting and employing staff" according to Stephen McLarnon, Chief Executive of Health Sector Jobs, the company behind the fairs.

In May 2016, the BBC reported that the recent cap on temporary agency staff in the NHS was breached 54,419 times in the week beginning 4 April 2016 according to figures released by spending watchdog Monitor under the Freedom of Information Act.

"With more than 23,000 nursing vacancies reported by NHS England, Wales and Northern Ireland, NHS employers will continue to depend heavily on both bank and agency staff until they begin competing directly with recruitment agencies for permanent and substantive staff," according to McLarnon.

"Our healthcare job fairs are a step in the right direction for employers as we don't permit recruitment agencies to exhibit. We have turned away several of the UK's largest nursing and medical recruitment agencies in order to support our customers to directly recruit and employ healthcare professionals," adds McLarnon.

Manchester Healthcare Job Fair

The Health Sector Jobs fair takes place in Renaissance Manchester City Centre Hotel on Saturday 8 October 2016 from 10am to 4pm with FREE Entry for jobseekers.

Doctors and Nurses can also avail of a free IELTS English language seminar presented by the British Council IELTS Team from 9am to 10am before the job fair opens. Pre-registration is required and places are limited.
