As a dual-certified psychiatrist and neurologist, I've focused my career on neuropsychiatric conditions and treating disorders like traumatic brain injuries."
OAKLAND, CA, September 26, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TMS Health Solutions today announced the opening of a new clinic in Oakland's "Pill Hill" medical district at 3300 Webster Street, Suite #402. "Our new, centrally located office will help meet the growing demand for quality, comprehensive psychiatric services for those who live and work in Oakland," said Dr. Jack Gillean.
"We're excited to offer both medication management and innovative therapies for treatment-resistant depression like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)." Dr. Richard Bermudes, the company's Chief Medical Officer, supervises clinical treatment at the Oakland location and all five medical clinics throughout Northern California. He is a nationally recognized authority on depression therapy and current Clinical TMS Society president.
TMS Health Solutions provides comprehensive psychiatric services and is Northern California's leading provider of TMS therapy, a highly effective, FDA-cleared treatment for those who do not respond to treatment and/or medication. TMS is non-invasive, utilizing magnetic pulses to precisely stimulate areas of the brain known to cause depression and mood disorders, without the systemic side effects of anti-depressant medication. TMS sessions are administered in a comfortable outpatient setting, and patients can resume normal activity immediately afterward.
"As a dual-certified psychiatrist and neurologist, I've focused my career on neuropsychiatric conditions and treating disorders like traumatic brain injuries, which can be hard to redress and incredibly frustrating for patients," said Dr. Joshua Kuluva, previously head of neurology at Alta Bates Medical Center. "Recent studies on TMS treatments for these issues have shown very promising results. I look forward to working closely with Dr. Bermudes to develop a TMS neuro program that'll bring much-needed relief to patients."
"Our Oakland office already has a strong team of accomplished and passionate clinicians," said Brad Hummel, CEO of TMS Health Partners, the business management company for TMS Health Solutions. "And so we're very pleased that Sasha Bergeron, our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, will begin accepting new patients at our Oakland location in November, rounding out the team with a strong focus on ADHD, mood disorders, and behavioral disorders."

About TMS Therapy
Cleared by the FDA in 2008, TMS is a drug-free, non-invasive therapy for patients who suffer from treatment-resistant depression. It is administered in a physician's office in an outpatient setting. By using an MRI-strength magnetic field to stimulate the prefrontal cortex of the brain, the core symptoms of major depression can be relieved. Unlike antidepressants or Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), patients undergoing TMS therapy experience minimal side effects.
