ATLANTA, GA, October 05, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Less than 24 hours away from the catastrophic hurricane strike to Haiti, the LifeSaver Orphanage from Haiti, scheduled to return home today, is now stranded in the United States as they await news on the ensuing damage from Hurricane Matthew. Sponsored by the non-profit organization, Love Him Love Them, a group of 22 children, 5 band members, and orphanage parents have been touring the southeastern US for the past 13-1/2 weeks to raise funds for running water and electricity in their orphanage, in addition to a hospital in Galette Chambon, Haiti. Linda Gunter, co-founder of Love Him Love Them commented, "We were scheduled to return to Haiti today, but no flights. There may not be an orphanage to return to..."
The choir was born from a tragedy, when all but 5 of these children and band members touring the United States lost everything in the earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010. Most of them lost their entire family that day. They eventually found their way to the home of the Paul family, the mother and father working as music teachers at the time of the earthquake. The Paul's never intended on having an orphanage, but out of necessity, the LifeSaver Orphanage was born.
David and Linda Gunter, co-founders of Love Him Love Them, first met the children from LifeSaver orphanage during a mission trip to Haiti in 2011, a year after the devastating earthquake. What they saw, smelled, and experienced completely wrecked them. They've been back every year since, and this year marked the inception of the Love Him Love Them Haitian orphan choir, with the first ever Haitian orphanage permitted travel into the United States for performances and fundraising efforts throughout the southeastern United States.
The choir is currently traveling from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Atlanta, GA. They are on a holding pattern until flights resume and they hear news of the conditions they'll be returning to in Haiti. As they children wait and wonder about the damage they'll find upon their return home, they are currently safe in the United States and praying fervently for their communities back home.
LoveHimLoveThem was created from a passion to apply "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind and Love your neighbor as yourself" to our lives (Matthew 22:36-40) and help teach others to do the same. If all God's people would follow these two commands we could eliminate poverty and the need for the governments attempts to meet certain needs. We have committed to showing love by meeting needs in our local community, our state, Haiti and Ukraine.
Our goal is to meet spiritual, economic, social and physical needs through financial support, food, training and discipleship.
