UNC Student Creates Web-App to Promote Communication in the Workplace

    CHAPEL HILL, NC, October 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On October 15th, UNC Student and entrepreneur Thomas Groenhout will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to help fund his newest venture, Wurk. This responsive web-app helps managers and employees communicate more effectively and consistently, which aids in increasing employee engagement and, in turn, productivity.

Wurk was intentionally designed to promote communication within organizations. Sometimes employees feel that there's no easy way to report their problems, but Wurk solves that. Maintaining positive communication with employees is central to minimizing turnover and keeping employees happy, and sometimes, there's just not enough time in the day to have a one-on-one talk with every employee. By requiring a simple two-part survey every day, employees will not miss a chance to report a problem.

An app like this is necessary because the vast majority of workers in the United States are not engaged in their work. This causes diminished productivity and, therefore, decreased profits for the company. Implementing a system in which workers provide concrete feedback on their working experience every day helps engage and involve workers.

While the desktop version of the app is very smooth and attractive, many employees will find it easier to access Wurk on their phones as they leave work. As mentioned before, the app is responsive and works very well on mobile devices.

Groenhout plans to have the app commercially viable in January 2017 and plans to charge $1/user/month.
