Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Lori Kline as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    REHOBOTH BEACH, DE, October 13, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lori Kline, Owner of Lori's Oy-vey Cafe, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Lori Kline was recently featured in a 2015 edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2016.

Spending the first few years of her career as a Teacher in Silver Spring, Maryland, Lori Kline vacationed to Rehoboth Beach, Deleware during her very first summer off. Spending time enjoying the beautiful beaches and local shops, she found a job working part-time at a local cafe, Cup of Joe, for the remainder of the summer to earn extra cash and stay busy. Once the summer had ended, she returned to her classroom in Maryland to begin her second year. However, it would also be her last year.

"I loved teaching, but there was just something about living by the beach that I just couldn't get enough of," Kline said.

Quitting her full-time job at the end of the school year, Kline moved to Rehoboth Beach and began working for Cup of Joe full-time. Little did she know, however, the business wasn't prepared to renew their lease after the year had ended.

"As disappointed as I was, it was also a great opportunity for me," she said. "I took over the cafe, all 197 square feet of it. It took me about six weeks to get everything together, including getting the necessary health permits and licensing together, laying down new floors, painting the walls, and just making it my own, but it was well worth it in the end and I couldn't be happier."

Changing the name to Oy-vey Cafe, Kline has since been in in business for herself for nearly two decades. They will be celebrating their 20-year anniversary in May 2017. Having developed a wonderful clientele and a staff that she can truly rely on, the cafe serves up some of the best sandwiches in town, as well as a variety of delectable early morning meals, salads, vegetarian meals, meat lover entrees, and a variety of beverages. In 2002, Oy-vey Cafe was named Best of Delaware for their award-winning Blue Cheese Chicken Salad. They also received the Best Sandwiches Downstate and Best Kosher Deli Award.

"I have absolutely no regrets," Kline added. "My customers truly make my business what it is today. Some of them visit weekly while others visit daily. I couldn't do it without their patronage and I am eternally grateful."

In addition to serving food on premises, Oy-vey Cafe also delivers and offers catering services locally for various occasions. Open seven days per week during the summer, with a reduced schedule in the off season, hours of operation vary with the seasons.

Kline holds a BA in Education from Frostburg State University since 1989. Active in the local community, she donates meals to disadvantaged youth in the summer, supports local charities by donating gift certificates, and cooks turkeys for a community in need each Christmas.
