Industry Experts Magazine Selects Howard Ellis as a Distinguished Professional in His Field

    NEW YORK, NY, October 13, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Howard Ellis, President of Twisttex, LLC, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in his field through Industry Experts Magazine. Howard Ellis was recently featured in a 2015 edition of Industry Experts Magazine.

Established in 2010 by President Howard Ellis, Twisttex, LLC is a consulting business that works on the development of new domestic knits. Advising on the merchandising of raw fabric, the creative production, and sourcing, Ellis boasts more than 50 years in the field of textiles. The opportunity to go into business for himself after all these years has been a pleasurable experience and he looks forward to the future with great enthusiasm.

"I have a tremendous amount of knowledge in all phases of producing a fabric, from fiber to finished," Ellis said, "and it's something that continues to fuel my passion after all this time. My business, although relatively small, has been growing steadily as I strive to continuously become more and more visible in the industry. Beginning in 1962 after completing his college degree, Ellis began working for E.A. Peppercorn, a menswear fabric company in New York City, as an Assistant Stylist. After several years he changed his focus and became head of a knitting mill. He was then taken on board with Diletante Fabrics as Creative Partner and Minority Owner for four years. Leveraging his increasing knowledge and experience in the field, he later landed a position as the Head of Fabrics Assistant to the president of Gloversville Continental Fabrics. By 1985, he had moved to New York Fabric Company as their Head of Raw Fabrics before ultimately becoming Vice-President of the Knit Fabric Division for Symphony Fabrics.

In 2010, after leaving Symphony Fabrics, Ellis became a consultant for Charles West Fashions, a division of Sextet Fabrics, for the past four years, Ellis advises on the sourcing and fabric directions that the company takes, while also developing domestic fabrications and technical applications on all fabrics.

Ellis has also been known to delve into the education aspect of the textile field, including teaching a seminar called 'Fibers to Fabrics', at three different institutions, the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons The New School of Design, and Johnstown Community College.

Earning his BS in Textile Engineering and Design at Philadelphia College (now Philadelphia University), Ellis was active as a member of Textile Distributors Association and American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, and was also a Board Member for Knitted Textile Association.
