The farewell sale runs from Oct. 17 to Oct. 25, 2016, offering a 35% discount on the three blends of Adagio, Bravura and Cadenza which are being permanently discontinued and will no longer available on the Black Note website as of Oct. 25, 2016.

The five other blends will continue to be part of Black Note's vaping liquid lineup, with the discount offered to help people select a new blend if their favorites had been one of the discontinued flavors. These five blends are Prelude, Legato, Sonata, Forte and Solo.

New Regulations that Led to Discontinuation

For Black Note, discontinuing the three blends was a difficult decision made out of necessity. New vaping regulations being enacted in the US by the FDA and in EU member states by the TPD have significantly increased the cost associated with full compliance of placing vaping liquid products on the market.

New FDA regulations dictate that each vaping liquid product be submitted with a lengthy application that includes detailed information that ranges from a thorough ingredient listing to a full description of the manufacturing process and facilities used. The application process must be followed for each vaping liquid at each different nicotine level.

The cost of placing a product on the market under new FDA regulations is estimated at $1.3 million per product.

EU TPD regulations likewise set forth application regulations for each product, along with the requirement of notifying all EU member states of the product being placed on the market. No cost estimate of placing products on the market under new TPD regulations was readily available.

Products that are currently on the market have a grace period before which they must comply with regulations. The three blends of Adagio, Bravura and Cadenza will be discontinued and taken off the market prior to the compliance deadlines.
