SEATTLE, WA, October 21, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Glosten, a Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy and longtime supporter and sponsor of SNAME, will chair a panel on modern shipbuilding at this year's SNAME Maritime Convention (SMC) in Bellevue, Washington. The panel will discuss new technologies in shipbuilding, how to address an aging workforce, new approaches to training, and non-traditional design deliverables.
"We're excited to bring attention to this critical topic at SMC this year," remarked Josh Horst, PE, Glosten's Manager of Production Services and SMC Panel Chair. "Shipbuilding is vital to Seattle's economy, and advances in technology are changing the approach to traditional practices. As designers, we have a responsibility to critically evaluate these advancements, and collaborate with shipyards to implement them. It's great that SNAME recognizes this timely topic; we're looking forward to getting the conversation started."

With that, SMC is expected to bring more than 1,000 designers, operators, shipbuilders, and marine vendors to Bellevue this November. In addition to panel discussions, SMC provides more than 50 hours of technical presentations, networking opportunities, and vendor exhibits.
