On a daily basis as a fire marshal of the Pinetop Fire Department, Mr. Wood coordinates for public education, and he also conducts routine fire investigations. Mr. Wood also monitors the fire department website, and he oversees the issuance of burn permits. He provides public safety, acting as a car seat technician and a public information officer.

Mr. Wood became a Certified Emergency Medical Technician, a Certified Firefighter I and II and an arson investigator. He is presently pursuing an associate degree. In order to remain connected with other industry professionals, he became a member of AZFMA and The International Association of Arson Investigators. In 2011, he received an appreciation award from the Boy Scouts of America. He was also named as a Firefighter of the Year in 2008, and he received a Fire Chief's Award of Merit in 2008.
