FAIRFAX, VA, October 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Loretta Herrington, Program Director for World Institute on Disability (WID), has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Loretta Herrington will soon be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction Magazine's Top 2016 edition.
Working from her home in Fairfax, Virginia, Loretta M. Herrington serves as the Program Director for World Institute on Disability (WID), which is based in Berkeley, California. In her role, she manages a government grant that places college students with disabilities in internships with small businesses and for international development. Ensuring that WID's partners on the government project also perform at their best in order to meet and exceed necessary objectives, she also works diligently to support their international program, which builds both leadership and capacity for disabled persons' organizations in post-conflict and developing countries, while also promoting full inclusion of those with disabilities in to every aspect of society.
Having previously worked as part of an executive team within the Federal Government, Herrington learned a great deal about how to work cohesively with others and today she is able to successfully work with corporate entities, government, and community stakeholders alike.
"Much of my success in this industry stems from having worked with many military wives of the past as a military spouse myself," Herrington said. "I made wonderful relationships, which served as a magnificent support system year after year."
Prior to becoming Program Director at WID, Herrington served in the Executive Branch of government for nearly a decade in administration and other similar capacities. Recently, she authored her first book, entitled 'Piece of Soul Through the Heart: A Soul's Journey'. The book speaks about matters of the heart and feelings of the soul, capturing captures nuance, humor, and joy that is guided by the light and promise of God, ritual, nation, family, and the proud heritage that links generations worldwide to the common human experience of hope in the shadow of adversity.
