Memphis Personal Injury Lawyer David E. Gordon Sponsors $1,500 Scholarship Contest

    MEMPHIS, TN, October 31, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Memphis personal injury lawyer David E. Gordon is sponsoring a $1,500 scholarship essay and video contest that is aimed at fostering discussion about civil rights and the role of law enforcement.

The contest is open to current high school juniors or seniors and students who are currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college or university. Entries must be submitted by December 2, 2016.

Two winners will be chosen: First place ($1,000) and second place ($500).

The Law Office of David E. Gordon will announce the winners on January 6, 2017.

"I deeply value the role that higher education plays in allowing young people to pursue their dreams," said Mr. Gordon, a Vanderbilt University Law School graduate who has practiced law for more than three decades. His firm focuses exclusively on serving personal injury victims and their families in Memphis and surrounding areas in Tennessee and northern Mississippi.

"Our firm's goal with this contest is to help high school students with college plans and current college students while, at the same time, bringing attention to an important topic," he added.

To enter the contest, students must meet all eligibility requirements and submit an original essay of no more than 600 words or an original video of no longer than two minutes which addresses the topic:

What can be done in our society to promote a greater respect for civil rights and for law enforcement?

Students are limited to one essay or video. The essay or video must show thorough research on the subject and clearly justify the student's position, including citing all sources of information.

The scholarship funds are to be used for tuition and/or related expenses such as books and supplies.
