WHO: Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), a non-profit organization located in the Rampart District of Los Angeles, will hold its 26th Anniversary Celebration Monday night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. More that 400 guests are expected to attend and AEG will be honored at the event for its outstanding commitment to the community and enriching the lives and future of HOLA youth. All proceeds from the event will benefit HOLA.
BACKGROUND: HOLA resides in the culturally rich, but economically struggling Rampart District, where one-third of the area's families live at or below the poverty line and two out of every three households are low-income. The demand for youth programs and resources by the community continues to increase exponentially. Severe school budget cuts have resulted in fewer critical services being offered to low-income families in dire need. HOLA provides rigorous and engaging after-school programs that invest in the academic welfare of each student and empowers them to pursue their potential and change their life trajectory. With over 2.5 million youth under the age of 18 living in the city limits of Los Angeles, it is critical that HOLA continue to sustain these programs and provide as many students as possible with hope for a better life, a community that believes in them and a place they can call home.
