About Lynn Hartmann:
As a fourth-grade teacher, Lynn Hartmann has been educating students at Kenton Elementary for 13 years. As an early childhood education teacher, she is often called upon to teach all subjects, however she personally feels that her favorite subject to teach is science. Science enables her to show children how to explore the world around them and figure out how things work, so it can be particularly satisfying to see them discover solutions to a problem in that area. Her job is to accelerate learning for every APS student, every day. She accomplishes this by creating an environment where students can take risks and learn from their attempts, not just successes. She provides equitable instruction by differentiating her lessons to meet student needs, and she also provides inquiry-based instruction that allows students to explore various questions and provide evidence-based answers.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Hartmann earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, with concentrations in mathematics and science, from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2005. In her spare time, Ms. Hartmann enjoys spending time with her family in the mountains, and she especially enjoys spending time with her niece, Amy, who is a sophomore in high school this year. In her free time, she enjoys bike riding, gardening, reading, drawing and painting.
