About Alicia D. Franklin, DDS, FAGD:
Dr. Franklin graduated from Howard University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, she worked for Abbott Laboratories, Inc. in the Diagnostics Division as a product research and development assistant for several years prior to entering dental school. Eventually, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (D.D.S.) from Howard University College of Dentistry in 1996. She completed a General Practice Residency at Michael Reese Hospital in 1997 and started her dental practice, Happy Smiles Dental, in 1998. She has been practicing General Dentistry for 20 years and has maintained a private practice for 18 years.

To remain in contact with other dental professionals and to remain abreast with the latest dental techniques, Dr. Franklin participates in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society and the National Dental Association. She earned her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2010; less than five percent of all general dentists within the U.S. earn this award. She also earned a "Dental Lifetime Network of Illinois" award in April of 2016 for 10 years of voluntary dental service. Having completed over 1,100 hours of continuing education courses, Dr. Franklin enjoys learning about the latest dental techniques and technology so that she can provide the best dental care for her patients.
