HOUSTON, TX, November 19, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Nov. 18, PODS Houston, the Houston Fire Department, and KPRC Channel 2 will officially launch their annual Operation Stocking Stuffer Toy Drive with a festive kick-off event at Houston Fire Station #37. At 6:10 a.m., a Houston Fire Department vehicle stuffed with donated toys will arrive to get the morning going. Other festivities include live KPRC news broadcasts encouraging Houstonians to stop by the PODS container collection site and make their toy donations early and student bands, choirs, and orchestras from area high schools spreading cheer with holiday entertainment. Houston Fire Department Senior Captain Ruy Lozano will be on-hand to greet and thank Houstonians for their donations.
From Nov. 18 through Dec. 21, PODS containers will serve as secure collection and storage points for hundreds of thousands of toys donated at various Houston Fire Department stations throughout the city. At the Dec. 21 distribution event, each PODS container will serve as a "room" for toys sorted by age group and gender. Thousands of families, many of whom will get in line as early as the night before, will wind their way through the PODS containers and receive toys for the holidays. This highly visual community charity event is expected to serve approximately 4,400 families through the distribution of over 300,000 toys.
