NEWPORT BEACH, CA, November 19, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Laura Davick, founder and vice president of Crystal Cove Alliance (CCA), today was named Outstanding Founder at the 31st National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon at City National Grove of Anaheim. The inspiring event was attended by more than 900 distinguished community philanthropists, influential business leaders and other passionate nonprofit world supporters.
The prestigious Outstanding Founder award recognizes an individual leading an established nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life in Orange County. Davick was nominated by HKA Marketing Communications, CCA's 10-year marketing communications partner, and Teddie Ray, community activist, philanthropist and CCA board member.
Alix Hobbs, president and CEO of CCA, commented, "I met Laura when I joined CCA earlier this year and now I am working shoulder-to-shoulder with her. I have known many people passionate about the environment but Laura gives a whole new meaning to the word. Laura cares and everyone who works with her feels her dedication. All of us at CCA are very proud that Laura has been chosen to receive this wonderful award."
"I have been blessed with a life-long love affair with Crystal Cove. My experiences there as a child have impacted my life, my work and my philanthropy," says Davick. "My desire to protect and preserve Crystal Cove for future generations to come just makes my heart sing and my life complete."
Founded in 1999 to stop a planned luxury resort, CCA went on to become Crystal Cove State Park's official nonprofit partner and one of the most successful public-private partnership models in California State Park history. The charismatic Davick has made it her life's work to protect and preserve Crystal Cove State Park and the Historic District, the meeting place of her parents in 1940 and home to the cottage she lived in as a child.
CCA is responsible for just over three miles of coastline, more than 2,400 acres of backcountry habitat and a 1,100-acre offshore underwater park, and offers innovative educational and conservation programming for children and adults. With 29 of the historic beachfront cottages fully restored, CCA currently is planning the restoration of the remaining 17 cottages.
National Philanthropy Day recognizes efforts made by philanthropists, organizations and volunteers whose efforts greatly enrich the quality of our community. Each year, individuals and businesses are selected by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) of the Orange County Chapter to be honored for their contributions.
