Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    LEXINGTON, KY, November 28, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD, Freelance Writer, Poet Laureate, and Songwriter, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD will be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction Magazine's Top Women in the Arts edition in 2016/2017.

Going by her penname of 'Penny Johnson', Dr. Jane Penelope Johnson, PhD, has dedicated her entire career to the art of writing and poetry. Beginning as a young girl, at the age of 10, she began focusing on her talents, and was quickly recognized by her parents, teachers, and local community in Kentucky where she grew up. Going on to pursue her craft in college, she graduated from the Famous Writer's School in Westport, Connecticut in 1967 and continued to excel in the field. Today, she is an accomplished Freelance Writer, Poet Laureate, and Songwriter who is known internationally for her work.

Over the course of her career, she has written numerous poems, many of which cater to patriotism and her affinity to her Christian ways. She was named Most Admired Woman of the Decade and International Woman of the Year, was included in the 500 Greatest Genius Laureates of the 21st Century, received a Presidential Award from President George W. Bush, was honored with The Emily Dickinson Award for her poem, 'The Wedding'. Several of her published works having included 'Anthology, Treasured Poems of America', 'A Penny for Your Thoughts', and 'A Song for Peace'. Her poem, 'The Beginning or the End?', was a semi-finalist at The North American Poetry Open. Her poem, 'Shout it Out-Immortal Verses about the Birth of Jesus Christ', was published worldwide. Some of her poetry has also been turned into song lyrics.

"Much of my writings have been inspired by my beliefs," Johnson noted, who is also an active Christian Counselor.

Authoring her first book in 2004, 'A Penny for Your Thoughts', which was published through Author House, presents many inspiring poems, versus that include topics on nature, love, life, death, philosophy, and religion.

Presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from London, England in 1993, Johnson enjoys being active with numerous organizations, including serving as a member and advisor to the International Society of Poets. She is also a member of National Author Registry and Famous Poets Society.
