NEW YORK, NY, December 01, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Randa El-Zein, Scientist and Professor at Houston Methodist Research Institute, has been selected to join the Education Board at the American Health Council. She will be sharing her knowledge and expertise in Healthcare Education, Business, Leadership, Management, Chemistry, and Epidemiology.
Dr. El-Zein earned her medical degree from the University of Alexandria and her PhD from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. El-Zein has been in her current role for the last 2 years. At Houston Methodist Research Institute, researchers pride themselves in the development and innovation of ideas that lead to discoveries used in everyday medicine. A multidisciplinary team, educational opportunities, state-of-the-art equipment, and the use of innovative tools ensure advances in the quality of healthcare.
Dr. El-Zein attributes her success to perseverance and patience. A desire to learn about the role of genetics and susceptibility to diseases led her to her profession. Her day-to-day responsibilities include developing and testing measures to improve screening for lung and breast cancers and identifying individuals at high risk for these diseases.
Dr. El-Zein's long-term goals include working on several projects and continuing lab work that is currently being utilized in clinical bedside trials. She is a member of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Lung, Heart, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Charitable organizations she works with include the American Cancer Society and American Association for Cancer Research.
