Steinberg Law Firm Foundation Co-Sponsors First Charleston Youth Summit

    CHARLESTON, SC, December 06, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Steinberg Law Firm announced Friday that it has partnered with the Royal Baptist Church Foundation, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and The Links, Incorporated to co-sponsor the inaugural Charleston Youth Summit. The summit will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Royal Baptist Life Center at 4750 Abraham Ave. in North Charleston.

The event is free and open to students in grade 7 through grade 12, as well as their families. Organizers expect 200 to 300 students to attend the summit, which serves as both a college fair and an opportunity for young people to express ideas and concerns about issues including education, social justice, violence in the community, relations between races and social media.

The goal of the Charleston Youth Summit is to provide local students with a forum to discuss current events, make connections and share experiences with each other.

"What began as a growing friendship with Senior Pastor Isaac Holt and the leadership at Charleston's Royal Missionary Baptist Church has transformed into an opportunity for us to bring together students from all religious, racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds."

Pearlman said that discussions at the summit will be "driven by ideas and concepts from the students," with a youth council of 25 students planning topics. In addition to discussions, the event will also have food, music and prizes.
