Henderson Properties Food Drive a Tremendous Success

    CHARLOTTE, NC, December 10, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Henderson Properties just completed its annual food drive, and Food Drive 2016 was an astounding success. With a total of 2,975 pounds of non-perishable goods collected from both employees and clients, Henderson Properties was able to exceed its goal of 2,100 pounds, providing donations both to Second Harvest Food Bank and the Harrisburg Food Pantry.

This Year, Henderson Properties extended its food drive to allow for centralized pickup. This provided the opportunity to reach more people with the goal of collecting food, and the results showed that it worked. On collection day, residents of Henderson's participating communities were instructed to leave their food donations outside, and a truck manned with a team of walkers went through the communities to collect food. In addition, collection bins in community buildings and Henderson's offices to help make collection easy. In October, the focus was on collecting from staff, shifting to community members and clients in November.

"Food Drive participation continues to grow every year," said a Henderson Properties spokesperson. "This year we set a goal of collecting 2,100 pounds of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank. We exceeded that goal by so much that we were able to donate 600 pounds to the Harrisburg Food Pantry! We are excited to be able to give back to the local community this holiday season through our food drive results."

Henderson Properties also exceeded its previous record of 2,000 pounds of food in 2015. Through the efforts of the community and its residents, many hungry people were able to get the food they needed during the challenging holiday season. Of the 2,975 pounds collected, 2723 pounds came from clients and 252 pounds came from staff, equaling more than 1 pound of food per home for the participating communities.
