Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Ellen Behrens as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

    MODESTO, CA, December 15, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ellen Behrens, Software Developer/Analyst III for Stanislaus County Community Services Agency, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Ellen Behrens will be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction Magazine's Top 2016 edition.

Stanford University graduate Ellen Behrens completed her BA in Music in 1980, only to follow a very different, very successful path within a year. After first exploring the many complexities of computers, which, at the time were very new, she quickly became fascinated. With the understanding that she would have to commit a great amount of time, effort, and ongoing education to the field if she were to pursue such a career, her interest and dedication continued to inspire her. Being located in Silicon Valley, Behrens landed her first technical role as a Marketing Assistant and technical training person at OSM Computers, a start-up company that is no longer in existence. Throughout the years, she moved through various technical support and training positions, until she became an Office Systems Specialist at the Stanislaus County Community Services Agency in 2000. After a reclassification to Application Specialist II, she was promoted to Application Specialist III, a position she held for an entire decade. In 2012, she applied and successfully landed the position as a Software Developer/Analyst II at the Community Services Agency. In 2014, she was promoted and is now serving as a Software Developer/Analyst III. As of today, she has been with the Agency for 17 years.

As a Software Developer/Analyst III, Behrens develops various programs for the Agency. Implementing many different types of programs from day to day, she continues to excel in her role. Some of the programs and languages she uses include Access, MySQL, HTML, XSL, JavaScript, XML, CSS, PHP, XCode, Objective C, and various open source CMS systems. When she isn't busy working on programming projects, she can often be found working with clients, putting together project plans, making presentations for her group, and overseeing the User Interface team.

"I have taken a particular interest in web coding languages at my agency in the last year, and I've also completed my first iPhone application. Although this field can be very time consuming and you must be willing to constantly challenge yourself, I've always enjoyed the learning process," Behrens said about her commitment. "For me, this career has always made sense."

In addition to earning her BA in music, Behrens is a Certified Translator for Russian to English Written Translation. She also holds several certificates in computer languages and software programs.
