NELSON, BC, January 14, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jiu Jitsu in the Kootenays is a growing sport and Salmo Jiu Jitsu has taken this seriously by inviting one of the fastest growing stars in the sport, Daniel O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien co-owns Triad Martial Arts in Cullman, Alabama, is a 2nd Degree black belt under Carlos Machado, and is an elite competitor in Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts.
Damian John, who runs Jiu Jitsu classes at the Salmo Recreation Centre, is always on the lookout for ways to improve the local Jiu Jitsu scene and often reaches out to practitioners from near and far to share their knowledge. After seeing Daniel O'Brien compete in the Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI 9) on UFC Fight Pass, Damian reached out via the magic of Facebook and has successfully scheduled a seminar with Mr. O'Brien and one of his high level black belts, Ethan McClellan.
"To have such a qualified practitioner of the art of Jiu Jitsu to come to the small town of Salmo is a real opportunity for learning for anyone who takes grappling seriously." says Damian John. "It's rare to have black belts come through the area, much less competitors who compete successfully at the highest levels. Through chatting with Jiu Jitsu practitioners from Daniels state and paying attention to what people are saying about Daniel as a teacher and competitor in the sport, there have only been great things said about Daniel O'Brien" Says John. "My favorite comment has been 10th planet black belt Brandon McCaghren . He said 'He's an actual wizard and who will revolutionize any Jiu Jitsu practitioners game'"
The seminar is on Saturday, February 25th, at the Salmo Recreation Centre, from 12pm - 4pm. All levels of grappler and martial artists with a basic understanding of grappling are welcome to attend. Pre-registration is through the Salmo Recreation Centre at 250-357-2320 or with Damian at 250-357-9285 or simplesoulful.com.
