NOVATO, CA, January 23, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Buffy Stewart, Singer, Songwriter, Performer, Writer, Poet, and Owner of Almost Heaven Productions, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Buffy Stewart will be featured on the front cover of an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction Magazine's Top 10 of 2016 edition.
A Recording Artist for more than 40 years, Singer, Songwriter, Performer, Writer, Poet, and Owner of Almost Heaven Productions Buffy Stewart's first album, 'Signals Thru The Glass', was a collaboration that was released in 1968 with her husband, John Stewart. This record was inspired by the paintings of Andrew Wyeth, and on the cover of the album she and her husband were honored with a quote by the great painter and son of the famous Andrew Wyeth, James Wyeth, that said, "Exceedingly sensitive and compassionate portrait of contemporary America. You have achieved in song what I attempt in paint. Congratulations" - James Wheth. The album has since become a classic.
Stewart has since put out several more albums, some with her husband, 'The Essential John and Buffy', 'Darwin's Army', and some with other artists including Nirmala Heriza, an album called 'Hearts Together' by Heriza and Ford. Stewart has also produced two solo albums, entitled 'Same Old Heart' and 'Angel Rain', with one more solo album due out in early 2017, 'Once Upon a Time'. 'Same Old Heart' was released just a few years after her husband passed a way of a stroke. Many well-known artists appear with Stewart on these albums.
"One of the songs I wrote on my 'Same Old Heart' albums, called 'Find Your Shoes', was about fighting through the massive grief I was going through after my husband passed away of a stroke at the age of 68," Stewart said. "I still grieve today for him; he was an amazingly talented artist."
John Stewart was a member of The Kingston Trio. After he left the Trio, he was looking for a female singer to form a duo, and after seeing Stewart sing they performed, recorded, and toured for many years. The two were together for 45 years and have a son together, Luke, a successful tattoo artist in San Francisco and former Strike Force Ultimate Fighter. They also have three other wonderful children from John: Mikael, Jeremy, and Amy, and six beautiful grandchildren.
Stewart began training in music at the age of 10. First performing in the Sacramento Music Circus, she later attended Eugene Lorine Dance School on a full scholarship in Los Angeles, California, while residing at the Hollywood Studio Club. She danced eight hours per day, later toured the US as a member of the Young Americans with Johnny Mathis, and then danced with the Viva le Girls.
Stewart continues to carry out her husband's memory through her songwriting. She still performs on the East and West coast of the US and is a Vocal and Drama Coach. She's written her first children's book, 'The Blanket and the Bear', which she anticipates releasing early in 2017, and she is currently in the process of completing her autobiography.
