Austin Software Startup Solves Data Processing Automation Problem for Drone Asset Inspection

Customers benefit with improved efficiency and reduced operating costs

Utilizing our patented augmented reality technology, the ViSyn platform provides our customers with visual intelligence immediately, eliminating the long post-processing delays that currently exist.

AUSTIN, TX, February 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Directed Sensing, a new software company in the fields of sensor technology and augmented reality, is set to turn the drone services market on its head with a new drone-mounted sensor camera and automated image processing software that makes drone asset inspection both operationally and financially attractive. Taking measurements with advanced cameras and sensors, Directed Sensing's ViSyn platform immediately transforms sensor and camera data into images that clearly show otherwise invisible phenomena. Similar to how a thermal camera displays heat as color gradients, this new software can visually represent measurements from diverse sources such as chemical, biological and mechanical sensors.

According to the 2017 Global IoT Report by Vanson Bourne, data post-processing from Internet of Things devices (including drones) typically takes anywhere from two to nine days. The adoption of drones for inspection services will be constrained by this inability to provide results in a timely and cost effective manner.

"Utilizing our patented augmented reality technology, the ViSyn platform provides our customers with visual intelligence immediately, eliminating the long post-processing delays that currently exist," says David Patterson, President and CEO of Directed Sensing. "Our customers will have improved business and operational intelligence while simultaneously reducing their operating costs."

Directed Sensing's initial market offering, available summer 2017, will be a gimbal-based sensor camera module that includes HD camera with video, radiometric thermal camera with video, a laser rangefinder for distance measurement, data encryption that exceeds NERC-CIP requirements and the standalone automated image and data processing software package.

The industries where this technology can make immediate improvements span the gamut of infrastructure inspections: utilities, dams, roads and bridges, water/waste water; insurance assessment; search and rescue; and real estate management.
