Breast Cancer Survivor, Author and Advocate, Maimah Karmo, Uses Her Challenge as a Gift and Launches, "I Manifest Bliss" Experience to Empower Others

    TYSONS, VA, March 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maimah Karmo is not one to back down from a challenge. After being hit by lightning, surviving three wars, and escaping from her native country of Liberia at 8 , 12 and then finally at 15 years old, with just one suitcase - alone, she built her version of the American dream. On February 28, 2006, at 4:45 p.m., Maimah was hit by lightning again - proverbially, this time. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. She had no family history of breast cancer; and was only 32-years old. She turned her cancer journey into a catalyst for others through the Tigerlily Foundation, which she started while in chemotherapy. Tigerlily Foundation now offers programs to young women before, during and after breast cancer - nationwide. Maimah was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey - twice, and has written about her experience in her memoir, "Fearless: Awakening to My Life's Purpose Through Breast Cancer". Now, she's using her challenges as a gift in an even bigger way; and she's now helping to inspire others to do the same.

After a third coup d'etat in 1989, at 15 years old, her father put her on a plane alone and sent her to the United States; 17 years later, she was diagnosed with a breast cancer. While in chemotherapy, she awakened to her soul purpose, and founded the Tigerlily Foundation, a national breast cancer organization to support young women.
