ATLANTA, GA, March 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ghana The Great has once again become critically acclaimed as a historically valuable film. It first debuted at the Dada Saheb Film Festival in 2016. This year the documentary was selected to be a part of the Indian World Film Festival in Hyderabad, India, March 19, 2017.
The film's narrative is a brief expose of the history of modern Ghana and its connection to descendants in the United States. Intimate stories are told that show their reactions and emotions when they discover their Ghana roots. The film also shows the special relationships that are forged between continental and diaspora Ghanaians as they welcome their new relatives home. An appearance of the former president of Ghana, His Excellency, John D. Mahama is included along with excerpts of the speech he gave during his visit to the city of Atlanta, Georgia is featured.
Shahara Ruth, writer, director and producer resides in Metro Atlanta, Georgia. She has written and produced several works focused on Ghana after discovering her roots through DNA research. She has been featured on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS). She has also written a children's book entitled, Sade and The Golden Shoe, as well as a screenplay, The Ancestors Live Here that explore the connection and voices of her recently discovered culture. Her poetry book, From The Poet To The People, has been critically acclaimed and used by public schools and universities.
